Forbid all access from 3CX app for some users.

Hi all,

I have a client who has a requirement that it is not possible for some (but not all) of their users to log in using the 3CX app on their Android/iOS devices. These users should still receive the welcome e-mail, will have a desk phone (or desktop softphone) in the office, but must absolutely not under any circumstances be able to access the PBX when away from the office.

Selecting the option "Block Remote Tunnel Connections" does stop the user from making calls, but it does not stop them logging in to their extension on the mobile app and they can still use chat, the company contacts list and see the status of other extensions.

Is there a way of saying "This extension CAN NOT use the 3CX app"?

Hi @NicholasBarnes,

In order to ensure that the extensions cannot use the 3CX App, you'd need to limit QR codes. In order to limit QR codes, you'd need to control the Welcome Email and 3CX Web Client. The only way I see this working is by not having them receive the Welcome Email, and by using only the 3CX Windows Client, where they'll be unable to scan a QR code. You'd need to ensure that you control the extension's email address and you'd need to download the config files and install the Windows Client on each PC, then associate the correct config file to it.

Thank you for the quick response, unfortunately while this would be fine for some users, I don't think this is going to work for all of them - I think some of the users with desk phones would still need to log into the webclient for some of that functionality.
A shame, but there's a real GDPR liability for my customer they're going to have to consider.

Hi @NicholasBarnes, I understand. I suppose a combination of the above mentioned idea coupled with management of employees may be the only way. I'll leave this open in case anyone else has any suggestion regarding this.
