Following on from these two threads:
I have a customer who would like to be managers to be visible to other staff (appear in the list, etc) but not show them when they are on a call. Even with Show calls disabled, the status indicator still turns yellow (even though all the other call information is hidden). This affects both the web client and mobile app.

Is it possible to hide this information?

The manager has "Show presence to group members" disabled and users have "Can see group calls" disabled.

Worst case, we can just hide the extension entirely, but it would be nice for the manager to stay in the list for click-to-call.

Kind regards,

You could try taking them out of these lists in question, put the managers in their own list and tick the box which says "Publish information to all extensions".

uses will view "all groups" to see managers ext.

I'm afraid there is no way to prevent users from seeing other users status if they have presence information available to them. This is due to the fact that an extension's status such as Busy status is part of presence information and not specific to calls information. The "Show/See Calls" right will allow extensions to see information about the actual call.

Hi Guys,

I mentioned that I had presence disabled, and it's still showing?

Kind regards,

Then the extension is in another group displaying to all or is in the same group as the ext that can see the presence.

On DEFAULT, I have the user in question set as a manager, with "Show presence to group members" disabled.

That extension is not in any other groups.

Show presence to group members turned off will hide the extension.

there is no way to get what you want other then:-

- Make a dummy extension for each manager
- Set forwarding rule to forward calls to actual manager ext
- Turn on "show unregistered ext..." in the webclient.

this will probably have undesired effects and will probably show you a load of stuff so you'll have to go tidy up your groups/extensions.

I have read this a few times and I agree that exactly what you want is not possible. The closest you can get is to only show the status icon without others being able to see who the managers are actually talking to.

My questions is slightly different. Why do you want other employees to see the Managers Extension in the presence, if you don't want them to see any of their statuses?
The meaning of the Presence is so that others users know when they can disturb you or not. You seem to not want this, so just hide the Manager Extensions completely and if you want the employees to know their Extension Numbers, just add them in the Phonebook with their extension numbers...

That's fine that's what I'll go back to the customer with.

The managers don't want the other staff to know if they're listening in. The presence turns and stays yellow in this case so would not be difficult to determine that is what they're doing.

Now I've looked at it properly, it's the same as in a call, perhaps they're just getting jumpy about nothing.

Kind regards,

Yeah, it's yellow for any type of calls, even if the person calls their voicemail.

So no reason to badtrip with that lol

Hi Guys,

So just to follow up, I had issues then hiding the user from view. It turns out, if a user adds an extension to favourites, then you remove that extension from view using the various permissions, it still shows for any users that have added that extension to favourites.

Kind regards,

@Orbital_Andrew
That is true, though the extension's status would still be visible in that case too.
