Is 3CX planning to do something about totally eliminating any on-prem hardware other than the hard-phones? In other words, is 3CX able to deliver 100% cloud-based system when using hard-phones? We are running into situations where clients are receiving quotes from other vendors where they have no hardware on-prem other than the hard-phones. I am not sure how they are doing it, but it is a fact at least to sell the system. This situation is coming out as a drawback. They say that 3CX is not 100% cloud based.

One of the features in update 6 is using a phone as an SBC.

Thanks SteveITS for the prompt replied. We had evaluated the phone-router already. However, it still requires hardware with an additional single point of failure and a 10 phone limit. We are looking for a 100% cloud based solution. I guess the answer is that an SBC is required when using hard-phones with 3CX.

Anyone selling phones-only is using a cloud-based SBC (or rolling the dice). Anyone doing so is not cheaper than 3CX.

You can simply use each phone as router phone. It will be like having a VPN on each phone individually.

And fixes your two issues.

Use using VPNs directly into phones provisioned via RPS.

We totally agree on the pricing comment. 3CX is the cheapest specially for bigger deployments. However, clients do not want to have hardware on-prem. They have move all services to the clouds and do not want to go back. Is 3CX considering a cloud-based SBC or similar solution to eliminate all on-prem hardware. We are planning to do some packet captures to see if they are rolling the dice or doing something legit.

Thanks a lot for all comments!

Dude, if you have deskphones, you have on-prem hardware. If you use router phones, each phone can be its own thing. No equipment needed other than the phones.

No, 3CX is not making a cloud SBC. It's 3CX SBC or apps.
