@StrobeTech-Robin @DavidHuang all have been deployed and released and you must be able to see the OS Upgrade again in your PBX on Updates section. If not yet, give it a few more minutes and it will be there :)
Confirmed the new update is working now. (it's downloading the packages now)

Fresh Install & Upgrade from existing system.

Thank you. :)

My Azure version updated to Debian 10 but 3CX is not active. How do I manually install v18 on Debian 10?
There's no way to manually install so you would have to redeploy v16 Debian 9 and upgrade again. By "not active " do you mean not installed at all? Do you have a v16 backup?

If yes for both, just scrap the machine and redeploy(using the same license key) via our self-host deployment wizard to get a new 3CX v16 Debian 9 instance. Restore your backup and then do the upgrade again.

@farsight one option is the one my colleague mentioned above.
The other option is to go via Marketplace " https://www.3cx.com/docs/pbx-azure-marketplace/ " and restore your backup during deployment when you install the PBX.
As you can understand there the steps are more as you need to run Config Wizard, where in 3CX Wizard in the portal we have eliminated these..
Up to you and whatever is more convenient, we have all options !!!

- Assume you have existing backup kept offsite
1) Install fresh copy of 3CX
2) Upgrade to V18
3) Restore from Offsite Backup

Hi @ChrisC_3CX , I've found you will need to upgrade 1st then do the restore else it fails during upgrade process (ie. not downloading the 3CX packages).

@DavidHuang what is the version of the backup you have ? V16 or V18 ?

Backup is V16.

To Replicate:
1) Fresh Install V16
2) Restore V16 backup
3) Upgrade to V18 - Fails

1) Fresh Install V16
2) Upgrade to V18
3) Restore V16 Backup - Works.

@DavidHuang in order the this to fail, this means that before the upgrade happens, the PBX makes a Resque Backup and this must fail.. It will also generate a Core Dump..
Now, what are the specs of your machine ?

Only tested on Azure B1s and I can see the ResqueBackup.zip and upgrade file but no coredump.

@DavidHuang do me a favor, check on /var/lib/3cxpbx and check if there 's a Core file or at /usr/lib/3cxpbx/BackupCmd .
If so, that's the issue why it fails..

I record that there were no core files. Would you like me to try to replicate and see if it still fails?

@DavidHuang PM me the Public ip of your machine please.

Per direction, I deleted the Azure VM for 3CX. Created a new one and restored the backup to it. It is working but on v16. Do I take the chance and try the upgrade again? Or wait for the full release?

Provided the instance has been deployed as per our guides and is in a 3CX supported configuration, upgrading should pose no issues.

However, do bear in mind that, despite v18's stability even in it's Beta state, we generally do not recommend anything other than the latest official 3CX version for production environments so I'd recommend you proceed with the upgrade accordingly.

Hi!

I have 3CX instance on Hetzner hosting (from 12/2020) and yesterday tried to update my v16 to v18Alpha, but got message:

Your 3CX Debian OS failed to update

What else we can do in our case? Or maybe v18Beta will be more suitable to update later?

N.B. it was original 3CX ISO without any modifications.

Hi @spf ,

The upgrade script will not proceed if it finds any third party repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ (with only exceptions the providers we tested/verified).

In your case, temporarily removing (or moving) any source list other than 3cxpbx* should be sufficient for the upgrade script to proceed.

Really, there was another two files-sources from Hetzner. After deleting them, the update process pass smoothly and quickly. And now we have v18

Thank you very much for help!

Excellent, you’re welcome! Now you can check out all the new cool features V18 packs!
