V20: 3CX Re-engineered

I am thrilled to learn that 3CX now supports Debian v12. The installation process appears quite straightforward. However, since I only have one (test) server available running Debian v12, alongside other applications like Docker and Home Assistant, I need to double-check if the installation procedure won't overwrite any startup configurations, etc. Last time I installed it, the server only booted 3CX, and Docker didn't start anymore. I understand it's generally recommended to run 3CX on a standalone server, but for now, I'm using it for testing purposes only. When it comes to production, I intend to utilize a dedicated server.

@mickeyr61 3CX provides an ISO to install the OS and software, and does not support a manual install or running other things on the 3CX server.

re softphone chat will be added in a later update, as well as a brand new switchboard / panel similar to old legacy client

Think you Steve. Then there is no other option but to set up a second (test) server. No problem!

Hotkeys too? :)

Only main missing thing after that would be the CRM autopopup. The app can do the Launch App but not the server-side integration popup.

Switchboard is nice too!

Thank you so much for your reply, I appreciate it.

Would you please let me know about the remaining items I asked for?

And Regarding Softphone windows, is it possible to develop it like WhatsApp so that when you close it (X Button), it still sends you notifications?
I don't have the answers but maybe someone else in this thread will chime in. I know others have requested that X not close the app.

Hi Nick,

I asked our 3CX partner (in Mexico) about this release and if they will help us with the upgrade. They told me this release is not the "real/definitive" final version, and that they are expecting it to be realesed by mid-year.

That sounds very good Nick! Thank you!

See the "Roadmap for V20" section of the blog post as well as prior posts about features coming in the first few updates.

I had been looking forward to V20 but as its developed and now its here I am disappointing by the business decisions made.

Firstly, I have a perpetual licence that I am informed will no longer be honored or work in V20, even though I pay for updates and support. This is a kick in the teeth to a long standing customer.

Secondly, I run a pro licence which now wont work on my windows window server O/S anymore.

If i have to re-licence and/or run on a different O/S I will be considering an alternative to 3CX.

Hi OAH,

All users with perpetual license that is current are just switched to annual license with same expiry. So if you pay for updates then you should be fine. The price for renewal of Perpetual vs Annual was the same for the last few years so likely not any change here for you other than terminology.

For people running on Windows OS, v18 is still supported and not considered obsolete. 3CX will release v20 for Windows prior to any v18 obsolescence. 3CX also said they would do a free upgrade to Enterprise which will allow you to run 3CX v20 Windows until your license expiry. So you have from when that happens to when your expiry happens to decide if you want to stay on Enterprise/Windows or move the instance to cloud or 3CX Debian.

Hi,
Could someone please give me more info.

We are currently on Professional Annual Windows 11 3Cx v18 on premises License.

If we upgrade to Enterprise v20 Annual would this still work on Windows 11 3Cx on Premises.

Or would we need Windows server license.

Thanks.

Enterprise v20 Annual would still work on Windows 11 based on the knowledge that we have at this time.

Congrats! Really looking fwd to AI features!

Regarding "lock down of the Web Client by IP", can this also include FQDN, please?

Much easier, more powerful and more secure to restrict by client's FQDN. In comparison, only by IP is very limited especially with users on mobile devices.

Extending FQDN to Admin access is also another fantastic improvement!

Thanks!

@uptime1 you cant lock down by FQDN thats not how it works. You have to go to the FQDN but you can only do so from certain IPs.

@SweetAction unfortunately it's against Windows UI policies and it's disallowed , so it's not an easy solution but we are seeing if there is a workaround, we might have found too.

@ConceptsWeb hotkeys too and we are working on the auto popup

Why is it no problem for the new teams app to stay in background (also a windows store app)? Is it different to 3cx windows app?

Same question here. Have someone this answer ?
Default department would be the global hours and then each different office hours you need create a seperate department which has seperate time zone, seperate office hours and seperate routing. You then point the did to the department. Same same but different.

@IT Dept Thanks for the headsup! Bridges are back and the presence option will be back as well in next update. Meanwhile already configure bridges with presence will work

@James Mutch Sounds like an instance which has been edited or is not the plain standard 3CX ISO. Or had other tools on it installed for example. Best thing to do is backup and restore onto a new 3CX ISO?
Edited instance can also mean you've updated the server specs of instance or something like that as well. As a few we restored off an instance image to a larger instance cased issues when installing. It was fixable but needed a little love as didn't see the drives properly.

I think the new v20 is really cool :cool:.
Unfortunately, we are still missing a few functions in the desktop client, such as chat or Yealink integration. I'm glad that you want to integrate these functions in the future :D.

I read somewhere that the v18 electron app still works with v20.
Is that true?
We would now upgrade the PBX to v20, but let the users continue to work with the Electron app for the time being. As soon as the required features are integrated, we would gradually switch the users over.
