V20: 3CX Re-engineered

To see the XAPI documentation use this.

Paste this path after your 3CX FQDN "/xapi/v1/swagger.yaml" like "https://example.my3cx.com/xapi/v1/swagger.yaml" then copy the result in https://editor-next.swagger.io/ to view all the requests and the possible parameters & payloads ect.
This is mainly the configuration API. Was looking forward to call control api functions. When looking into creating for example a attendand console. Then call controls are needed. We'll just have to wait a little longer ;)

That API hasn't been done yet. It's nowhere in the install (even looked in the DLLs lol)

I see the new V20 Marketplace image for Azure is now available. It is still a Gen1 type VM. Any chance for Gen2? Gen2 supports UEFI and more importantly Trusted Launch for enhanced security.

Roadmap for V20

" At 3CX we’re always looking to the future. So what we’re releasing today is not a static version of our vision for the future. It's a secure and expandable architecture that we can easily build upon as we pivot into global telephony leadership. "

- Nick Galea, CEO, 3CX

In bold, what is most important to remember from my text :-) ;

The competition (developers of virtual phone systems trying to compete) are already scared... I stumbled upon a battlesheet from the competition comparing their solution to that of 3CX v20 (they wasted no time LOL)... It's actually flattering for 3CX.. even the competition's battlesheet highlights 3CX instead of diminishing it, lol!

Although I can clearly see several errors in their Battlesheet stating that 3CX does not support various features which... in reality, it does support...
For example;
- Allowed Country Codes...
- Two-Factor Authentication
- Phonebooks

.. I think I'm going to correct it and send them the revised version, LOL!
It seems like the competition based their comparison on the beta 1 version of V20... that's embarrassing for them.

Great job to the entire 3CX team!
I'm very happy, yes, it will take me some time to adjust, but... who said moving towards improvement was an easy transition? Yes, I will search settings (maybe add a search bar in the "admin" section, to help us find settings? Just a thought) but... I can see the benefits.

I'm convinced it's for the better, yes, there are several features from v18 that I would like to see make a return, I'm crossing my fingers tightly, but I have faith!

Well done 3CX !

Thx !

Thanks Nick for the heads up on the Roadmap. We will be watching for that.

Looking For:
  • Active Call Screen
  • Number of Calls in Use on Dashboard
  • SBC Statistics Screen
  • Holiday Rule - Recording Upload

Chrome PWA push notifications aren‘t working in an offline environment without a connection to the internet. Please fix it - in Firefox it is working. Reproduceable on debian and windows clients.

Thanks for the very fast clarification.

I find it baffling that you are tying what OS your software can run on to what license a customer buys. I have never seen this done before by a company. Whilst to you it may be 'inexpensive', I now have to go to our management team and justify why we're paying £250 more annually and upgrading our license. The only answer so far I have is 'because 3CX say so'.

I understand that we can move to using the Linux appliance but for a business who runs on Microsoft servers, we now have to ensure our staff can support Linux too, which is another consideration we must factor in when hiring. All of this is lost time and extra thought required simply because of a change we have no control over.

In another forum recently someone commented "3CX needs to remember to develop for the customers, not just for the developers."
And my question - which I suspect many other have is - WTF are you doing running a VoIP platform on Windows anyway. Christ sake - upgrade the damn thing to Linux, pay a couple of hundreds dollars more or migrate off.

Just upgraded a test 3CX instance and yes, it's the MC is very different but I'm certain it will be great. And I also challenge any whiners out there - try running a more cost effective VoIP platform! For solid medium size enterprises with 300-500 users, 5k calls per day, WFH staff, etc, etc, etc - they can DITCH expensive legacy platforms like Cisco CUCM BS - and save their organization a TON of money!

Is it possible to rename 'Department' to 'Branch' or 'Location' ? Our company has multiple locations which is what our current groups are aligned with. Each location has the same three departments, Sales, Parts and Service.

Its just an internal name. Yes you can use them for locations too.

about this: Global Office hours and holidays reconfiguration and use of Departments
if we have global hours and also different hours on DID is it still going to work if we update to version 20?
also if no global work is configured but in some DIDs we have office hours what will happen if we update?
Same question here. Have someone this answer ?

Is there a scheduled timeline for an app similar to the V18 "Electron" App?
Which includes features such as hotkeys, CTI, the ability to be deployed as an MSI, and possibly even TAPI support. This is urgently needed by many customers.

I guess you need to create multiple Departments for each number. I haven't tested it yet.

Did you find anything about Grafana in the DLL's?

Can we have all the SIP trunk SIP header settings back please?

These are very important settings in some cases, and every pbx should be able to edit this easily.
