Version 18 Update 6 Simplified. Modernized.

Hello,

Since Update 6, is anyone seeing the following 'Informational' event log entry every 60 mins for Pi SBC or STUN phones? Why is this please?

Provisioning file for MAC ######## of user 807 requested by 99.99.99.99 was successfully generated

(it's also generated each time you go into a user and click OK which I can understand but....)

Thanks in advance
William H.

This is simply a phone downloading its own config file to reprovision itself.
Whenever you make extension changes (ie. add some BLFs) the phone will reprovision automatically to pull the new setup from the server.

Yes fair enough, but by systematically sometimes every hour on the dot when no changes are made as far as I'm aware?

Regards, William

It's not a push based system (you make changes, it pushes to the phone that it needs to grab the new config), it's pull based - on a schedule the phone grabs the config file and applies it regardless of any changes.

@snowg Some more information on groups:

So if you set the times for a group - then these times will apply to all the users for the groups in terms of available, away correct?

>Yes the scheduler will start following the group hours. If the user is in multiple groups then you must select which is his primary group.

If you do not set any times, the global hours will still be used correct?

>Yes if the group office hours is not specified at all then it will use the global office hours. This means you can not just set office hours and not holidays. Either specify nothing or all. If you do not configure it it uses global office hours.

Holidays etc only applied to calls routed to the group right?
>If calls are routed to the group first (not directly to a queue for example) then if its a holiday calls and chats will be sent to the closed option.

If you route a call directly to a user then what happens when its a global holiday.
Calls sent directly to a destination do not care about holidays. Its just that the scheduler will set the extension to DND and then it will do what is conrfigured for DND.

So for each group it is always necessary to set all the standard holiday dates (Christmas, New Years, etc...) ?
>Yes if you configure separate office hours. Then you need to do it for each group. So basically if you do not change the office hours or holidays, then it will default to global office hours.

Thanks again,
almost all clear, just a few more doubts about the holidays of the group.
Does the IVR always remain the standard HOL ? 'couse I need to change the prompt for every group and/or specific holidays. It will be possible ?

If you change the office hours of a group you must also configure the holidays yes.....

Ok, but i cannot customize the prompt message of the group holidays

no, it uses office closed

no, it uses office closed
ok, so my problem remains unsolved, I can't differentiate and customize the message for special occasions only.

Hi,

thanks 3CX Team for your work.

Unfortunately allow some admin action only from webclient and not from admin console is a non-sense.
I understand the need to allow some admin action from webclient, its convenient specially from 3cx startup point of view.
But its just illogical to have some actions possible only from webclient and not from admin page. Why you don't allow admins to do theses from admin page as well??

I hope you will fix this soon, just a pain for admins to search where to do each action, on 2 différents pages.
Don't forget to choice to choose 3cx then the popularty and success of it is made by IT guys who like it because its easy to configure and admin!

3CX has stated that all* functionality is moving to the webclient - so in the future it will be one place for everything.

*Some functionality related to the system underlying settings (like DNS, FQDn, etc) may remain in the Management Console

as we slowly roll out SP6, we're noticing the few customers that have T41P phones are unable to load the new firmware after SP6 is installed. the phone cannot correctly communicate with the system. is there a way we can get 3cx to allow the T41-36.83.0.145 T41P firmware to be pushed PRIOR to loading SP6? we don't have remote access to all our customer sites and will have to work with the customer to manually install a firmware update.

Hi @network51

Both V18 SP5 and SP6 have higher SSL Transport and Ciphers requirements for PCI Compliance than the phones older firmware can handle.

The firmware update addresses this specific issue - the inability of the phone to download files from 3CX over HTTPS (including firmware files). So it needs to be done manually I'm afraid.

ok fair enough. that makes sense! we'll work with the small handful of clients that have those phones still and get it updated.

I asked this question but I didn't see a response.

In the past I could go to the webclient and click on the three dots next to an existing ext and click assign. Then I could change the name and email address to a new person who is replacing the current assigned user. This would erase the existing voicemails, etc. Has this feature moved? Thanks in advance.

Should I post this in another section or is there a customer area and this is for partners only? Thanks in advance. - bruce

Really liking the updates to 'Groups', especially the ability to control call routing directly from the Group.

Currently it seems the only way that I can route calls to a group is by using 'Inbound Rules'. Are there any plans to be able to route calls to groups via the 'Digital Receptionist'? We don't know what 'Group' a customer should be sent to until they indicate the reason for their call in the initial IVR (1 for sales, 2 for support etc..).

If we could route calls to groups from the Digital Receptionist we could finally get rid of the 'Dummy Extension' work around we have been using to route calls based on business hours (we send calls to different Queues based on time of day).

I seen Nick mention in the forums here that extensions with leading zeros will be allowed again in update 7 (via management console only). The blocking of extensions with leading zeros has created a lot of frustrations for us as we are constantly onboarding new people/extensions and many of our rules and policies were built on extensions with leading zeros. We've jerry rigged some new rules for the new extensions we onboarded since the update, hoping that we can recreate extensions with leading zeros again soon. But if update 7 isn't going to come soon we will probably have to delete and recreate extensions for over 50 people to keep our internal rules and policies simple to understand.

Any idea when we will be able to create extensions with leading zeros again?

Hi Bruce,

We still have this but you need the correct user rights to enable it:

@snowg - no it doesnt, only follows group holidays
@TTelecom - no roles only apply to the webclient admin section and the SIP trunks admin are for management console only. Group owner will have access to everything in the group. By default SIP trunks are not part of a group.
That's what I'm saying, with the permissions mentioned the user has acces to trunk configuration IN the webclient, having it restricted in the management console, and that is a little bit nonsense. having configured the extension disallowed to manage trunks and he/she can anyways manage the trunk trhough webclient?
