With the release of V16 Update 4 Alpha, we no longer support Google Drive as your storage drive for 3CX Recordings and Backups. The reason for this, are recent changes to the Google API User Data Policy on user data access, you can read more about this here. In Addition to the changes by Google, some users had issues with file listing, authentication expiration and GDrive storage limits.
Not to worry though! We’ve added the "Migrate Archive" tool for you to easily transfer these to a local folder. Read on to see how.
Migrating Your Archived Recordings

Migrate all recordings you have on Google Drive to your local disk. From there, you can then re-archive them to a new location of your choice.
This can be done in just 3 simple steps:
- Go to “Recordings” in the 3CX Management Console and click on “Migrate Archive”.
- Verify that you have sufficient disk space available for the migration process and click on OK. If you receive an email notification for insufficient disk space after running the “Migrate Archive” tool, you need to free enough disk space and repeat the process.
- The migration process completes when you receive a “Migration Complete” email. The duration of the migration process depends on the size and number of archived recordings stored on Google Drive.
Notes:
- The “Migrate Archive” tool will be removed in upcoming releases.
- The “Archive Schedule Policy” option for Google Drive will be automatically set to “Turn Off”.
Move Your Backups From Google Drive
Removing support for Google Drive affects your 3CX backups, requiring these to be moved to another safe storage location. If your backup location is set to Google Drive:
- Go to “Backup and Restore” in the 3CX Management Console.
- Select each backup and download to an alternate storage location for safekeeping.
- Set an alternate backup location for scheduled backups.
