Upgrading to V20 should be scheduled as soon as possible.

Debian 10 - upon which V18 for Linux is based - has reached end of life. This means no further security updates will be released by Debian. Quoting from their release “Starting in July, Debian will not provide further security updates for Debian 10. A subset of buster packages will be supported by external parties.”

Regresshion vulnerability - stay current!

Fortunately, once OpenSSH and the Debian team released the fixes, we were able to respond swiftly testing and releasing an update to keep Linux instances safe.

Even though - in this specific case - Debian 10 was not vulnerable you should see it as the exception to the rule. We maintain the recent OpenSSH “Regresshion” vulnerability highlighting very clearly the need for administrators to keep their software current.

We reiterate - with Debian 10 reaching end of life, updates will not be released at all - or only in very limited circumstances.

Upgrade to V20 as soon as possible!

It is imperative that you move to Debian 12 and V20 as soon as possible to stay current and secure! FREE edition and NFR users will need to do this anyway by 1st August to keep their licenses valid and current.

How to upgrade to V20

Linux

  • Log in to the Management Console and set a system owner.
  • As a safety precaution take a full backup configuration by going to Backup and Restore.
  • Download and save your backup outside the instance.
  • Navigate to and select “Upgrade” in the top right corner.
  • Confirm the upgrade.
  • You will receive an email informing you when the OS and PBX are upgraded.

Windows

  • Log in to the Management Console and set a system owner.
  • Take a full backup configuration by going to Backup and Restore.
  • Download and save your backup outside of the instance.
  • Uninstall 3CX V18.
  • Install 3CX V20 using this executable. Read the installation guide.
