New CEO set to spearhead global expansion and allow founder, Nick Galea to focus on product strategy
LONDON, UK, 17TH SEPTEMBER 2019 - 3CX, developer of unified communications solution 3CX Phone System, has today announced the appointment of Stefan Walther as Chief Executive Officer. Walther will succeed CEO and Founder, Nick Galea, who is transitioning to Chief Technical Officer within the company.
"Having founded and built 3CX in 2005 from the ground up, taking it from 0 to 250,000 customers, it’s time for new ideas and new leadership to push 3CX forward,” announced Nick Galea, CTO. “Stefan has extensive leadership and product experience and was part of 3CX’s success right from the get-go. This will allow me more time to dedicate to the product - which remains at the foundation of our success,” added Galea.
During his time as CEO, Galea grew the company and its global presence with the opening of 12 offices in Cyprus, Dubai, UK, Germany, USA, Italy and more. Throughout his journey, Galea racked up an impressive number of prestigious and international awards for 3CX such as the PC Pro A-List Award, Best ICT Product 2018, UK Comms Business Awards Channel Product of the Year, and Best Practices Award for Innovation & Performance by Frost & Sullivan, to name a few. In the past five years, Galea grew the company further with the acquisition of web-conferencing software developer E-works, as well as PBX developers Elastix, PBX in a Flash and Askozia.
Stefan Walther joined 3CX in 2008 as a German Support Engineer and was later promoted to Head of Support, before becoming COO. Walther was responsible for leading global operations, quality assurance, community development, and product vision. The decision to appoint Walther as CEO exhibits strong confidence in his abilities to continue with Galea’s vision in delivering sustainable growth and profitability while, most importantly, continuing to deliver market-leading technology to valued customers.
