Poly VVX PnP Provisioning with linux SBC - not displaying on PBX

Hey all,

This is first post as I've had nothing but success with our 3CX instance since setting it up 6 months ago. I love it!

So. We use a mixture of Poly(com) VVX handsets, mostly 410/411/501/600. Everything we need works. BLF/Transfer/Web calling/Phonebook/Provisioning (previously including the PNP supported models), everything.

I've just got my hands on two VVX 250's I'd like to test. They are up to date - firmware wise and are factory reset. I've enabled PNP provisioning by holding down 123 on the main screen and changing it to enabled, leaving all the other settings as default. After rebooting, nothing changes. As I've provisioned Poly devices with PNP before, I know the newly detected devices are supposed to automatically display in the 'phones' section of the PBX portal, but they aren't. They do, however display the company phonebook, although not yet provisioned with a line/credentials etc.... I've just tested this with a VVX 501 and it's also not appearing.

I've checked the SBC multicast as per this thread - HERE and it all checks out OK. It's the Linux SBC installed on a Hyper-V host, which works fine in all other aspects. I've installed the NTP package as per documentation - HERE too. I've attached a screenshot of various commands I used to check multicast on the SBC. It does seem that multicast is working as a Siemens Gigaset N300 IP base station is being detected as a new device in the phones section, it's just the VVX's that refuse to appear. Or maybe that's a red herring.... This DID work when I had a temporary SBC configured on a standalone Intel NUC but then moved it to a VM, I didn't need to provision any phones since the move so havent tested this feature till now.

The SBC is on the same VLAN/Subnet/Local network as the phones. I AM able to reboot/reprovision/amend BLF etc from the pbx.

Any ideas/tips from anyone running the linux SBC on Hyper-V?

All I can think of is the fact that I have DHCP option 66 configured on this subnet, pointing to the provisioning directory of our cloud PBX, and when the phones boot, they request their relevant XML's and one is the phonebook.

I can manually provision them with no problems, they just don't appear in the phones list in bold as described at the link you sent when I enable PNP.

You can not have both dhcp option 66 or pnp working at the same time.

The phones will use dhcp option only.

Why were you trying to use PnP when you already had Option 66 though?

Because we have a mixture of VVX's, more of the legacy 410 models which do not support PnP. Now it's starting to shift to the newer models which do. We can stick to manually provisioning the phones here, its not too much of a hardship. I'll just make sure I send out PnP compatible models to our remote sites.

You can keep Option 66 if you wish for this site, both newer and older models should work fine with it in theory.
