If you choose not to renew your existing 4SC PRO license, you will soon have the option to downgrade to the Free 4SC Basic edition. Before making your decision it’s important to note that the Basic Edition does not include 3CX managed hosting or IP Phones support. Read on to learn more about migrating from a hosted to self-hosted environment.
Is 4SC Basic Right for You?
The Basic edition is a powerful entry point into the world of modern VoIP. It is specifically designed for individuals and small teams who need reliable connectivity without the overhead of a large-scale enterprise system.
Key Considerations:
- Cost: Completely free to use.
- Features: Includes essential communication tools (check our Full Feature List for specifics).
- Hosting: 4SC Basic is not eligible for 3CX Hosting.
- 3CX Apps: Simple connectivity without the complexities of IP Phones.
- Policy: Subject to our Fair Use Policy to ensure quality for all users.
- IP Phones: Support not included
Navigating the Switch: Hosting & Migration
For our existing 4SC PRO customers — whether you are currently hosted by 3CX or managing your own servers — you have a choice: continue renewing your current PRO setup or move to Basic.
If you decide that 4SC Basic is the right fit, there is one important technical shift to prepare for: Self-Hosting. Because the Basic edition does not include 3CX-managed hosting, you will need to host the system yourself, either:
- On-Premise: On your own local hardware.
- Private Cloud: Via your preferred cloud provider.
When Should You Migrate?
You don't have to wait for your current contract to end to get started. You can choose to:
- Wait until your current 3CX Hosting expires (or gets very close to expiry).
- Forgo the remaining term of your hosting to switch immediately.
