H264 codec support for SIP and doorbell video phone calls.
The Beta release of the 3CX App for Android is now available to download from the Google Play store. No longer bound by licenses, this release adds H264 support for your SIP and doorbell phones, as well as extended search functionality to speed up and maximize efficiency when contacting your customers via the new CRM lookup functionality. Read on to discover more.
H264 Codec Support: How It Works for Video Intercom Calls!

The new Android client now has support for H264 codec. This allows you to make video calls to H264 capable SIP phones, as well as answer an intercom phone with video capabilities. Your visitors can simply press the speed-dial button assigned to your extension and you will receive a normal call, with the option to elevate to a video call if your doorbell supports H264 codec. You can then open the door by entering your code which you’d pre-configured in the door phone’s WebUI via the keypad.
CRM Searching without Extension Synchronisation

You can now search your CRM contacts from within the Contacts page, without the need to have these contacts synchronized to your extension. In practice, you search for a contact by name, email or mobile number, and our app will return matches based on your search criteria - not only from the PBX or your Android contacts - but also from your preferred CRM software.
The CRM lookup search results are available when:
- Searching in the Contacts screen
- Sending an SMS
- Adding participants to a scheduled meeting
- Transferring an ongoing call
Note: This feature requires Update 8
Other Features / Fixes
We have moved over fully to the HTTP2 protocol. This offers our users a more secure and better experience with considerably reduced loading time. Further improvements were made in our previous dialer redesign, searching algorithm, and some UI fixes to offer a better user experience.
