Hi All.
The PBX is working fine and the mobile app works great too - SIP trunk yet to be provisoned.
I've been asked by the powers that be to provision these Gigaset DX800A handsets.
Before we even get to the fact that these models are 'unsupported', I've followed the steps outlined in the Provisioning Unsupported IP Phones guide to create the provisioning template and save the aptly named dx800a.ph.xml file in the either of the locations that I think is right on my Windows box:
c:\ProgramData\3CX\Instance1\Data\Http\Templates\phones
c:\ProgramData\3CX\Data\Http\Templates\phones
However, when attempting to provision the phone, the dx800 name wont even appear in the models list, so I don't even get as far as selecting it, never mind entering the MAC address.
Any and all help appreciated.
All the best.
A.

Hi,

I think you should either go with supported phones, or manually configure these using the 3CX account information from your extensions.

Alternatively you can ask Gigaset to provide you with a template if they have one. If you don't already have a working template from the manufacturer it won't be an easy task to make one from scratch you will need to know what the device expects and unfortunately we cannot provide any help on that.

Hi John.
Thanks for your reply.
While I await further support from Gigaset, are you able to highlight why the list of models on the phone provisioning tab won't update with the name of the handset I've added in the template?
Even if the the handset won't work, the phone / model list should have updated to reflect the list of phone templates, no?
I noticed that the models dropdown list has sections for:
--- Supported ---
--- Legacy ---
--- End of Life ---
Which is the section where I should expect to see the device in my template, or must a new one be added, e.g.
--- Unsupported ---?
I've followed the guide, so I don't think I've missed any of the basic steps, but any further advice gratefully received.
A.

As you will have probably read here, unfortunately we cannot provide any further support on custom templates.

The guide mostly covers how to create custom templates based on existing ones. So if I were you I would look at an existing template for supported models, and draw my conclusions from there.
