Currently we are hosting our 3cx server internally, but want to move it to the cloud. Looks like our choices are Amazon Lightsail, Azure, Google and 3CX (Digital Ocean). Any suggestions on which is the most reliable? Which is the lowest cost?

You can also use any cloud providers that use KVM as engine and supports custom ISO, like Vultr.

Otherwise, Lightsail is cheaper but cheap won't be as reliable as more expensive, remember that.

Note that the 3CX Hosted has many limitations so you may want to avoid it unless you stick to supported vanilla 3CX.

I am a little embarrassed to admit this (I don't know why) but we have hosted our production 3CX server on Lightsail for about 3 years and we have not had a single issue. No audio problems. No performance problems. No security problems. It costs about $10 a month. Maybe we have just been lucky.

As you might expect, as a 3CX software developer, we also have a large number of test 3CX servers. While they are not production, we have never had a problem with those instances either. The test 3CX (Linux) servers are a little over $3 a month. It's hard to complain.

I would probably think a little harder about this if we needed to host a larger instance of 3CX, but for modest implementations it has been surprisingly reliable and you can't argue about the price.

As mentioned by @Frederick Marcoux, hosting at 3CX has some restrictions that don't work for us. Those restrictions include - no Call Flow Designer applications, nor any other 3rd-party applications including VoIPTools. Obviously, that's a restriction that is problematic for us :)

Hello Marvin,

Regarding Hosted with 3CX - Hosting is offered for FREE for the first year for all ALL Standard, PRO and Enterprise licenses, up to 32SC from the moment of the first activation.

For consecutive years of hosting, customers need to enable "Add Hosted by 3CX" to their key.
For further info, please check here : https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/hosted-info/

The good thing about that is that we offer monitor and tech support for our Hosted Instances

There are always other options available for Hosting - check below guides:
https://www.3cx.com/docs/hosted-pbx-amazon-lightsail/
https://www.3cx.com/docs/hosting-pbx-phone-system-microsoft-azure/
https://www.3cx.com/docs/hosted-pbx-google-cloud/
https://www.3cx.com/docs/cloud-pbx-amazon-aws/

Also don't forget Open Stack API option here you can deploy your machine through your portal.
This means that any provider that supports it, 3cx can deploy your machine to data center of your own choice. Also we support OVH as cloud provider.
