Hot on the heels of Update 6 is Update 7 Alpha. Update 7 includes features to round off the work started in update 6. The Web Client based admin interface is extended with RPS Mass Provisioning, DECT configuration and Extended VoIP Provider support which allows us to drastically increase the number of SIP Trunks you can configure with 3CX in both Hosted and StartUP.

RPS Mass Provisioning

In Update 6 we eased the configuration of new IP Phones, however each phone required an extension and PIN which is not suitable for provisioning many IP Phones. This has been addressed in Update 7 - all you need to do is enter the MAC address of the phone in the Web Admin Console and then connect the phone within 14 days to automatically and securely provision the phone.

Manual Phone Provisioning

Manual Phone Provisioning via the 3CX Web Client

With many older phones unable to be securely provisioned any longer (because they cannot view a secure URL with the latest ciphers), we added an easy way to manually configure IP Phones. In this way you can configure the Auth ID, password and 3CX PBX FQDN/IP or SBC router IP via the web interface of the phone.

New DECT Configuration

Update 7 now includes support for DECT phones - you can configure a base station (behind an SBC router phone if in the cloud) and then assign handsets to users from the users tab.

New Snom M400 DECT devices are now supported.

Extended VoIP Provider Support

We have greatly expanded the number of providers you can configure from our new Web Admin Console:

  • Ability to configure providers that support TLS, 3CX does certificate management automatically.
  • Ability to configure:
    • "IP to use in contact"
    • "Put Public IP in SIP VIA Header"
    • "Alternative Proxy"
  • Ability to configure an IP based provider
  • Deutsche Telekom is now a supported provider for its services
    • CompanyFlex- Cloud - Supported
    • CompanyFlex- VoiceData - Supported with Limitations
    • SIP-Trunk (NGN) - Supported with Limitations
    • Call and Surf - Supported with Limitations
  • Ability to configure a Generic Provider
  • Public Generic SMS/MMS API allowing third parties to develop and support SMS on 3CX

Snom Phones with SBC Support

Snom has now released its new D862 and D865 phones with SBC support so they can act as router phones.

Coming Up

New Install Server

Not available for alpha testing but ready for launch is our new installation server which speeds up deployment of StartUP and Dedicated hosted instances. The whole lead to deployment process has been streamlined and simplified.

As part of this, the deployment process of self hosted and on-premise installations is done online, which rates a provisioning file which is used when installing the instance. Self hosted installs are now launched from a cloud providers market place. Market place images are available for Amazon, Azure, Google Cloud and Digital Ocean.

New Shopping Cart

Also ready for launch is a new shopping cart which removes the limitation of ordering just 1 license key or renewal at a time.
