Mobile push subscriptions active for longer between app connections without reopening app.

3CX V20 Update 10 extends the mobile push expiry window from 7 to 14 days, giving Android and iOS users more time between app connections before their push subscription expires. This helps users stay reachable when they have not opened the 3CX app recently and reduces the need to reconnect after time away. Read on to see what changes in Update 10, who benefits and what 3CX Phone System Admins need to know.

Stay Reachable for Longer

The 3CX mobile apps use push notifications to wake a user's phone for incoming calls and messages when the app is not open. This lets mobile staff remain connected without keeping a live app session running all day.

Previously, the push subscription could expire after 7 days without the app reconnecting to the PBX. This was most noticeable for employees on leave, field staff who open the app only occasionally, or teams returning after a week away. Opening the app again renews the connection, but it is an extra step at exactly the wrong time.

What Changes from V20 Update 10

Update 10 doubles the expiry window to 14 days. Android and iOS users can now go up to two weeks without opening the 3CX mobile app before the push subscription expires. The longer window gives users more breathing room while preserving the same push-based calling experience.

There is no new setting to enable. Upgrade the PBX through Admin Console > System > Updates, then keep the usual mobile-app permissions, background refresh, and network access in place. Users should still open the app regularly when practical, especially after changing phones or reinstalling the app.

For administrators, this is a small change with a practical benefit: fewer expired push registrations, fewer reconnect requests, and a more reliable experience for mobile and hybrid teams.
