The new Beta version of the 3CX App for Android now provides support for local Emergency Numbers (e.g. Ambulance, Police, Fire) in accordance with Kari’s Law and the Ray Baum Act.
Kari’s Law: Direct Dialing & Notification
Kari’s Law, a law which was passed and named in honor of the death of Kari Hunt, requires direct dialing of local emergency numbers (e.g. 911). This means the caller can dial 911 without having to add a prefix or access code. In addition, the Ray Baum Act states that emergency calls must include notification capabilities. Notification about the caller’s physical location is of paramount importance to a dispatch center during an emergency.
GSM dialer to handle Emergency Numbers
Whenever an emergency number is dialed, the 3CX app recognizes this and “offloads” the call to the native GSM dialer. Through GSM, important information pertaining to the emergency is recorded to notify the emergency dispatchers.
