Voicemail transcription, number blocking and SMS restrictions.

Following the BETA release, the Windows Softphone V5.3 is now available for production use. This update introduces voicemail transcription snippets, number blocking from chat or call history and extended SMS country code restrictions.

Please note: the features mentioned below are only supported with Version 20 Update 7 onwards.

Transcription Snippets for Voicemails & Recordings

Voicemails now display a preview of the transcription in the call list, helping you quickly identify messages.

  • Voicemails show a snippet of the text directly in call history.
  • Recordings provide a short summary.
  • Click the transcription icon to view the full text.

Block Numbers from Chat or Recents

You can now block unwanted external, SMS, or WhatsApp contacts directly from the chat window or recent calls list. Blocked contacts are automatically added to your CID blacklist and cannot send SMS or call you again.

  • From Chat: Right-click on a chat (or use the menu in the chat header) and select Block number.
  • From Recents: Right-click on a call entry and select Block number.

Apply Country Code Restrictions to SMS

The Allowed Country Codes restriction now applies to SMS.

  • SMS to numbers outside the permitted codes are automatically blocked.
  • Users see an error message when attempting to send to a restricted number.

How to Get V5.3

Search for 3CX in the Microsoft Store to download the final version. If you have the BETA installed, uninstall it before using the production version. For instructions on how to install and provision the 3CX Softphone, see our configuration guide.
