Update 8A Final is released for production following testing over the last 10 days since our update 8A BETA release. It’s our last update to version 18 including the lockdown of SIP Trunks and system extensions, CFD performance improvements, SMS handling of incoming Alphanumeric Sender IDs, and the ability to turn off RPS for on premise installs. Read on for a reminder of what we’ve accomplished.

SIP Trunks and system extensions are locked down

  • The management of system wide extensions and SIP Trunks can no longer be done by Group Owners and Administrators.
  • To manage system extensions and trunks you have to be system admin or system owner.
  • Group Managers can manage all the items in the groups they are a part of.

Performance improvements for CFD apps

  • Update 8A now optimizes CFD apps performance
  • SMS handling of incoming Alphanumeric Sender IDs where sender information - for example a business or an organization name rather than a E.164 formatted phone number - is routed and displayed in your Chats

Ability to turn off RPS for on premise installs

For new installs only - and as long as you have split DNS and use 3CX provisioning methods - update 8 makes provisioning easier for both on premise and cloud installs.

You can also switch this off if you want to as long as you’re using a VPN, local provisioning or another RPS server for example. To do this you will need to go to the Management Console >> Settings >> Parameters and search for RPS_LOCAL. Once there, set the value to 0. Existing installs do not need to do anything as the value is already set to 0!

Update 8 Key Milestones

Version 18 update 8 has spanned more than 3 months of work commencing last June with Update 8 Alpha- 3CX MS 365 integration made easy - and consolidating many of the things we’ve been working on from the start of this year. It’s been significant. Here’s a recap on the most important of these.
