New Easy DECT Configuration: What This Means

Easy configuration of DECT Phones via the 3CX Web Client

In a nutshell, we simplified the setup and support for DECT phones. This means you can easily configure a base station and then assign handsets to users from the “Users” tab. If you’re in the cloud you need to do this behind an SBC router phone. We have an extensive list of end-to-end supported devices, including now the new Snom M400 DECT, with guides for each:

Yealink DECT IP Phones

DECT phones! Mobiles that aren’t mobiles bring a wide range of benefits to any business. In a restaurant, for example, DECT phones provide excellent voice quality for staff. Running on a separate frequency range independent of WiFi, they’re not subject to interference. Even better, they allow staff to communicate with each other over a long distance. If your staff are few and the area small, then one base station and a couple of low-cost handsets are all you need. As your business and staff grow it’s possible to scale up and use several handsets at the same time and at several base stations.

DECT phones are hard-wearing and long-lasting and almost impossible to break. If broken, no data is lost and it’s easily and cheaply replaced. They’re energy-efficient, and with all internal calls free, it’s communication at zero running cost. And from a business point of view, no constant interruptions for staff with the latest notification!

In summary, why DECT phones are a good business choice

  • DECT is more reliable than WiFi for voice
  • No need to use personal phones
  • Cheap, long-lasting, easily replaced hardware
  • Long battery life
  • Scale up according to business needs

Extended VoIP Provider Support

We’ve expanded the number of VoIP providers you can configure from our new web admin console. This increases the number of SIP Trunks available for use with all 3CX editions, particularly Hosted and StartUP.

  • You can configure an optional three-way authentication ID for those providers that support it
  • It’s now easy to support providers that have TLS where 3CX does the certificate management automatically
  • You can configure both IP-based and registration-based Generic providers
  • The Generic SMS/MMS API has been updated to allow third parties to develop and support SMS on 3CX

We now support many more providers out of the box. Some prominent ones include:

It’s clear that throughout our Update 7 - Alpha, Beta, Release 1 and 2 respectively, we’ve continued to add new providers. It’s testament - not only to an expanded list but also our commitment to keep adding to it. Watch this space as we continue to grow the list further over the coming months.

Better IP Phone Configuration and Support

Snom Phones with SBC Support: Another vendor has committed to integrating the 3CX SBC on their phones, The new D862 and D865 phones can now act as router phones.
