Upgrading Polycom SoundPoint Firmware

In this article we explain how you can upgrade the firmware of one or more Polycom phones in your network from the 3CX Management Console.

Download the appropriate firmware for your phones

Upgrade the firmware

  1. Go to: %programdata%\3CX\Data\Http\Interface\provisioning\ and open the randomly named provisioning directory. Copy all the contents from the .zip files you have downloaded, into the provisioning directory.
  2. Click on the “Phones” node, and select one or more Polycom phones to upgrade the firmware. Click on “Reprovision Phones”. This will send a reprovision command to the Polycom phone.
  3. The Polycom will re-provision and load the new BootRom and Firmware files.

Hi, tried to copy and paste the files into the provisioning folder. However, it’s asking me if I wanted to overwrite certain files. Is that ok to overwrite?

    Brilliant, thanks Nick.

I see the one little step I missed. Sometimes a picture is worth more than a thousand words.

    Most appreciated.

One thing I noticed during provisioning Polycom phones through 3CX is that a “polycom-” configuration file is generated and put in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\3CX\Data\Http\Interface\provisioning folder. However, I needed to rename the file to “-phone” for the provisioning to work. Is there a way to change this in the provisioning template?
