3CX Version 9 Service Pack 3

3CX is pleased to announce service pack 3 for version 9. This will upgrade your current 3CXPhone System V9 to build 14507. This update is now ready for download from the 3CX Winforms Management console / Service pack updates node. Service Pack 3 includes new features in Caller ID delivery. The update takes between 5-10 minutes once downloaded depending on the machine spec of the host server. An update is also available for the 3CXAssistant – version 14499. This can be downloaded through the 3CX Winforms management console/3CXPhone System Updates/Assistant Installer Package. More details on this below. 

Updating your 3CX Phone System 9 installation

  1. Log in to the 3CX WINFORMS Management console. Note update procedure is only available in the winforms version of the management console.
  2. You will notice that the node 3CX Phone System Updates is highlighted in Red. This means that there is an update available.
  3. Expand the node 3CX Phone System Updates and click on 3CX Service Packs/Updates
  4. You will see 2 updates. Update 1 is a pre-requisite that is needed for the system to be upgraded to Service Pack 3. Download this first and update.
  5. When 3CX is updated, navigate to service pack/updates and select the actual SP3 update. The download of the package will start automatically
    Note: 3CX users who have not yet updated to Service pack 2 need to do this in order to go to Service Pack 3.

Updating 3CX Assistants in your network with the latest version

This version of the 3CX Assistant 9.14499 contains the following components
  • Latest 3CXPhone5
  • CRM plug-in for Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010

Procedure to update assistants through welcome email

  1. Download the 3CX Assistant through the 3CX Winforms Management console.
  2. Select a group of extensions and click on “Send welcome email”. A welcome email will be sent to all the selected users giving them information on their extension.
  3. Users will then click the automatic Assistant update link in the welcome email. An updater will be downloaded which will automatically download the latest 3CX Assistant, and insert the provisioning file for that user
  4. User can click on the 3CX Assistant icon on the desktop and everything is configured automatically

    Yes – it is there if you updated via service pack only for now
    You will see a file named Helptips_mailtemplate – this is a copy of the Mail template but with tips at the top on how to change the subject and modify the variables to provide external links to myphone and assistant provisioning users.

    The other file Mailtemplate is the standard mail template. Eventually this file needs to be manually modified with the changes you want to make.

  7. Can anyone shed any light on the errors that have been fixed in the Patton 455X and 4638 Gateway Templates? Do I need to rebuild my config files with these new templates?

    Hi guys, great to see work continuing, but the one issue we had logged and was told it prob would be in SP3 was that when a user wants to change there profile, they go into VM, then option 9 then option 1 but the prompt is not played. i.e press 1 for away, 2 for custom 2 etc.. the user just gets silence, if they press the key which corresponds to the profile they want the profile is changed but the most important part is the user is not told what key = what profile. Any chance of getting this fixed, and as a big request it would be great if they didnt have to go into the VM or my portal to change there profile, something like *643 for away, *644 for custom 1 etc.. type dial code would be fantastic as the other options are a little awkward and slow.

    It seems like this release of CRM plug-in for Outlook 2010 x86 in Assistant does not work in terminal sessions of Windows 2008 R2?
    At least it does not work in our case even for user who has sdministrator rights.

    I’ve never upgraded the system before. Is there anything I need to backup besides the my current configuration prior to upgrading. For example, I updated one of the phone provisioning templates. Will this overwrite that?

    They said the bug in conference calling was fixed. But I am still unable to add callers to a conference call that is already taking place that was created using the assistant.
